Admission requirements
  • Direct entry scheme:

For direct entry to the Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, the candidate must have an Advanced Certificate of Education with atleast two principal passes in Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics. For      purposes of computing entry points the advanced level subjects shall carry the following weights:

Essential: Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

Relevant: Technical drawing, Biology, Agriculture, Foods and Nutrition.

Desirable: Economics, Sub-Mathematics, General Paper

Others: All other subjects.                

  • Diploma entry scheme:

To be eligible the applicant should be a holder of:

  • Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (ODM) having done and passed Chemistry at ‘A’ level with a principal pass, or
  • Higher Diploma or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering having done Chemistry at ‘A; level and passed it, or
  • Ordinary Diploma in Science Technology (Chemistry) from a recognized institution.                 
  • Mature age entry;   OR

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences with at least two principal passes at “A” level, one of which must be in Chemistry;  OR

Bachelor of Science Technology (Chemistry); OR

DES (Chemistry/Physics) but having done and passed Mathematics at ‘A’ level.

For all the categories above, entry shall be in year one.

  • Duration of the programme

The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering shall be a full time Day and Evening programme covered over a duration of eight (8) semesters for all the categories of entrants in (6) above.
